The aluminum and stainless steel bowls are a new interpretation of the shaving bowl form, gleaned from my many years as potter studying Japanese tea bowls.
The four-inch diameter hemisphere was originally manufactured for use as an industrial pipe cap.
The base is turned from aluminum pipe.
Each aluminum part is machined, finished, anodized matte black, and assembled into the tea bowl form and weighs only 170 grams.
The foot-ring base also doubles as a handle to grip during use.
